RE: Saf-Tee / Saf-TTE tire monitor

I agree with the above 2 posts. Thanks to the forum for allowing us to share info on the subject. I was able to get the CC company to issue credit, so it worked out for me.

RE: Engine lifespan - 454 & 460?

My 454 MH had about 250,000 miles on it when I sold it. All original - I saw it a few yrs later and it was still on the road. Can't speak on the 460. I do have a V-10 now and it's going OK @ 66,000 miles

RE: Wekiwa Springs SP

We were there last month-- I'd say it's about 1 mile form the campsites to the swimming area. The walk there made the water all that much more inviting. We rented a canoe instead of hauling the yaks. We were the first ones out in the mornignand couldn't beleive the number of canoes on the river when we came back later in the day. We mainly went up the Rock Springs run and only came across a few people the entire time up there until we got back to the main river

RE: Generator fuel line

I received a letter from Fleetwood a few weeks ago indicating that genset problems could be a result of rotted fuel lines so I guess it's a fairly common issue. I haven't had any problems, but when the weather cools down a bit, I'll probably swap out the old line with a new one as PM to avid an issue out on the road

RE: Camping for Homestead Nascar

Southern Comfort is pretty close by-- it's on the road going into the track. It's still a couple of miles away so you'll need a toad or hithch a ride with someone else in the camp. they used to have shuttles - but no more. We've stayed there the past several years. Big party every night at the Tiki bar. I tried to get into Larry and Penny last year for a change of pace, but they were booked. RE: Towing or Carrying a Harley or Gold Wing

I would not dangle that much weight on the back of any rv, tag axle or not. You can say what you want.Works fine for me. OK-- I'll get bashed here ... but, for several years I traveled about the country ( Fl to New England, FL to CA., etc.) a few times a year with a Harley on the FRONT of my P30 chassis. I built a custom rack and had no problems over 10's of thousands of miles. When we got a new MH and a second Harley, I opted for a 20' enclosed trailer. Handles the 2 bikes,Keeps everything clean and provides lots of extra storage space to carry stuff. It also comes in handy at the home base for hauling things around when needed

RE: Tampa area RV park "ON" the Gulf of Mexico

Turtle beach cg is now a different name which I forgot. Google Sarasota county parks. Yes it is tight but it will hold up to a 40' motorhome. Great gc right on the gulf. We love it and there its alot to do and siesta key. The main beach is second to none. John I recall the beach at Siesta Key has been rated #1, as has the North Beach at Fort DeSoto. I believe it used to be called Gulf Beach Campground when it was privately owned, the county changed the name to turtle Beach Campground after they purchased it

RE: Almost Lost Our Spare Tire

I saw a spare come off the back of a Jeep last year. It rolled down the road, hit a riding mower that was parked in a lot with a for sale sign on it then proceedd to smash in the door of what looked like a nearly new Dodge pickup. I was next door getting a tire reair on teh MH. The guy in the tire place said it happens a lot --- glad the guy spotted it for you and you had it taken care of before a real problem resulted.

RE: Plastic coolant reservoir tank leaks

I have had reasonable success with patching non-presurized plastic tanks with "goop" -- it seems to be the only stuff that will adhere BTW--- the plastic/pressurized tank on my v-10 Ford MH had a leak too --- it was a couple hundred $$'s for the replacement.... that hurts for a piece of plastic

RE: Tampa area RV park "ON" the Gulf of Mexico

I believe there is a park on Siesta Key (Sarasota), but I don't know anything else about it. That's Turtle Beach Campground. It used to be privately owned but the county bought it a couple of years ago. I haven't been there in a while. It was real tight with our 28 ft MH, I don't think there is anyway they could handle our 37 ft mh. Other than Ft DeSoto, that's about it

RE: Collier-Seminole SP Florida

We were there last Feb and bugs were not a problem. The campsites are close to each other, we didn't have a problem with our 37ft MH and toad-- but it was tight. The weekend we were there they had a reenactment and Native American & Pioneer Festival commemorating the 148th anniversary of the Battle of Royal Palm Hammock. The two-day festival features a reenactment of the historic battle between Seminole Chief Billy Bowlegs and American settlers, live folk music and Native American crafts and food. I really liked going to Goodland, just down the road .. neat little party town on the weekends. We also kayaked out of the park into the glades.

RE: E.G. Simmons Park in Ruskin FL

Yes it's a county park ( Hillsborough Cty) -- the drive-in has first run movies too. ( Had the new Batman immediately upon it's release). Head over to Jeff's fish house on Shell point Rd for a fish sandwich ( only open Thur,Fri,Sat)

RE: E.G. Simmons Park in Ruskin FL

ok - we'll give it a shot, and be discreet. I think you'll be OK --- they do check out the parties at the picnic pavilions but don't seem to bother the campers

RE: St Augustine Fl suggestions?

I haven't been able to get into Anastasia-- always full when I check. North Beach is pretty nice, went there last winter for the festival of lights --- a couple of miles out of town, but a short drive .

RE: Kayaks on a 03 jeep

We carry 2- 17' ocean kayaks on top of our Tracker Toad(its a convertible) They are pretty heavy as thay are enclosed rotomolded - I guess at least 50+ lbs/each . I made a custom rack to handle them. I welded up a couple of "receivers" on the front towbar bracket and use a standard receiver in the back . The rack I made slides in the receivers , and is pinned in place with normal hitch pins. There is an upright in the front and one in the back with a beam between the 2. That beam has 2 cross members that support the kayaks and 2 uprights . The kayaks are on their sides ( best way to transport) tied to the uprights. I can install it or remove it in a few minutes. All parts dissassemble with pins so the parts can be stacked at the campsite or in my garage taking up minimal space . Sort of hard to explain, but it works for us. I've been using this for about 9 yrs now

RE: Myakka State Park, Florida? Airboat ride??

IThe "airboat(s)" (they have 2) at Myaka is large enclosed barge, probably seating 45 as the other poster indicated . It goes at a very leasurely pace and is not loud . It isn't like the typical airboats you see around ( I have one- 0540 Lycoming powered - sets 3) that are small and fast . Take the tour - you will enjoy it !
